I love this Honey BBQ Sauce Recipe because it has a balanced flavor without needing a long list of ingredients. The sauce turns out smooth, thick, and glossy, with a sweet taste followed by a gentle smoky kick.
Pour the ketchup, honey, apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, and molasses into a medium saucepan. Give everything a good whisk until the mixture looks smooth and well mixed.
Step 2
Add the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Whisk again until the seasonings are evenly mixed into the sauce.
Step 3
Set the saucepan over medium-low heat and let the sauce gently simmer for 12–15 minutes. Stir it often as it cooks so nothing sticks to the bottom. If it gets thicker than you like, add a small splash of water and stir well.
Step 4
Take the saucepan off the heat and let the sauce cool for a few minutes. Give it a taste and add a little more seasoning if needed. Once cooled, spoon the sauce into a clean jar for storage or serve it.
